Mostly international couples and some families comprise the typical clientele at Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort and Spa. Accessible only by boat, the resort is located on a motu, or sandy island, in Bora Bora's turquoise lagoon. From the dock, a path leads along the beachfront under coconut trees to an open-air reception area. Huge tree trunks support a thatched roof, and the wall behind the reception desk shimmers with mother-of-pearl. Guests relax in scattered can armchairs with a cool drink and cold towel as staff checks them in. Bars and restaurants lie in elevated pavilions on either side, offering views over the lagoon. Natural materials are used throughout, and Polynesian artwork decorates the walls. The extensive grounds are landscaped with tropical plants and water-lily ponds, and a small waterfall splashes behind a freeform swimming pool.

Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort and Spa is pioneering an underwater coral nursery to propagate coral growth and encourage lagoon fish. This is underway directly beneath the overwater bungalows. Guests can snorkel around the nursery to admire the coral below, while underwater signs posted at intervals give explanations of the work that is being undertaken. Snorkelling tours are also led daily by the resident marine biologist, who supervises the project.
Among the 20 Garden Pool Suites, 14 are classified "Premium". They have a best location and offer exclusive amenities. Special efforts have been undertaken to recreate the feeling of a traditional Polynesian for these 20 new Bungalows. They are similar in concept to the Beach Suites in that they offer a private world for guests and extend the same services and amenities as the above. However, the Garden & Premium Pool Suites offer a larger tropical garden area and a private plunge pool in each bungalow instead of the Jacuzzi.
Beach Suite with Jacuzzi -
These room features 10 Beach Suites located at the edge of the beach and all with air-conditioning. Each suite is designed with privacy in mind by including an enclosed garden area with a private full size out-door Jacuzzi and a wooden terrace and sundeck. The bathroom is naturally and elegantly integrated in the enclosed garden area (half indoor and half outdoor).
The large bedroom offers a king size bed and desk area and opens onto a third area of the bungalow, the living room, which has direct access onto the beach. The living room is cleverly designed to provide a quiet, sheltered space in the afternoon and a romantic setting in the evening and always offers the dazzling view of the water and the mountain. In this room, the sofa can also be used as a bed to comfortably accommodate a third person.
The 50 Overwater Bungalows are 570 sq feet. All offer a very spacious bathroom area with both a separate shower and a full size bath tub. The vanity area and the bath tub feature glass tables tops to look into the lagoon. The well appointed bedrooms all provide a king size bed. The glass bedside tables and the glass coffee table in the center of the room enable guests to admire the colorful underwater life of the lagoon from the comfort of the bedroom. The coffee table even has a top that slides open to feed the fish below.
From the large sized outdoor terraces, all can enjoy a magnificent view of the world famous, breath taking Otemanu mountain. The terrace features a deck with lounge chairs, a private, sheltered sitting area as well as a lower sundeck with a fresh water shower and easy stairs into the lagoon.

Premium Overwater Bungalow -
Among the 50 Overwater Bungalows, 30 are classified as Premium. They have the best views of both the mountain directly opposite and the surrounding lagoon.
All offer a very spacious bathroom area with both a separate shower and a full size bath tub. The vanity area and the bath tub feature glass tables tops to look into the lagoon.
